  1. after focusing you switch from auto to manual before screwing the ND filter on. How do you stop the filter from then turning the lens and messing up the focusing?..as the lens becomes free to turn (Nikon D5100) thanks.

  2. Good point Dez Bruce.I can see how that could be an issue. But, there are lenses that have internal focus rings so the Barrel of the lens does not turn when you add a filter to it. Also, when I use my Neutral density filter I am shooting at an f/stop of f/16 or f/22. If your focus changes a little it will probably not affect the photo because of the Depth of Field at smaller apertures. Or you could just focus and add the neutral density filter and then switch the lens to manual.
